2000HRS (UK) A special Sunday version this month: This month on 120 minutes we’ve got a guest DJ dropping some of his fave tunes for you to nod your head to. Mr Colin Levett. We spent the afternoon in his music “Bunker” listening to music and he did a 2 hr live mix for us. Here’s a few words from him about his start in Djing… “Started djing the local youth club in 85… 86-87 local pubs & first major gig for me was The Hadleigh Suite in 87… hip hop & 70’s funk breaks… Dj’d clubs like High Society/Blue Boar/Penthouse/Saks/Chesters/Fat Sams/Pink Toothbrush… Moved into house music at about 89 looking for the friendlier vibe. Loved it ever since… Played quite a few of the various clubs in & around Southend. A major highlight for me was playing at Bobbi & Steve’s Garage City in London. Worked at Soulman Records in about 1996ish… One of the best independent dance music shops in the South east at the time. Always been a fan of the more soulful/disco/boogie edged flavour & heavily into the Nu Disco/Re-Edit culture of late… You can check my Mixcloud page..
